Check out one of the show quilt I quilted for my client Vickie. It hung in the San Antonio Quilt Show, which made me so proud. I spent 25-30 hours quilting it. I quilted the heck out of it because that’s what you’re supposed to do for a show quilt, right?
In fact, here is another quilt I did for Vickie last week using Kaffe Fasset fabric. This one is a little different, though. I spent considerably less time, but this quilt was a marriage of the right thread and the right quilting design on the right quilt top.
I could look at thread for hours. And I could take pics of it for more hours. Everyday. This was the thread I used. 100% cotton King Tut by Superior Threads. The Michael Jordan of quilting thread, as Nacho Daddy calls it.
Anyway, I’m kicking my own rear for spending all that time on the Russian Shawl (show quilt) when all it probably needed was a simple quilting design, like the second quilt. My brain works kind of like a drag queen’s– the whole philosophy of more, more, more. More glitter, bigger hair, taller platform heels. So when I see a quilt with some awesome fabric, I couldn’t just let it be and give it a simple design. Just one more lesson learned. Hopefully I just saved you about 20 hours of quilting that you don’t need on your Kaffe Fasset quilt.
