Baseball & Peanuts

It’s baseball season again.  Let me tell you, though, fall ball is so much more laid back than spring.  I really like it.  In fact, I like it so much, that I made a couple pillows for Nacho Baby’s bedroom– remember we are doing a baseball-themed room (one small step at a time!).

It all started when I found a random piece of cross-stitching that I made probably 20 years ago, maybe even more.  I was making it for my aunt who loved Snoopy.  (Sorry, Aunt B).  Then about ten years later, I ended up finding some Peanuts baseball fabric, so I bought it.  Now, here we are, ten years later, and I remembered all these pieces, so after a couple weeks of searching through plastic tubs and fabric stacks, I found them all and put them together for my son.  I’m sure my aunt would have loved them, but that was 20 years ago.  She’d probably like something a little more grown up now.

And then I found a backing fabric for the pillows in one of my 4 giveaway boxes.  Yes, I cleaned out fabric and actually boxed it all up… but I just can’t force myself to carry the boxes away.  (And I’m glad I haven’t carried them off because I found some fabric so that I can make some more Blankets for Bastrop.)

I just did an envelope closure on the back because we all know that I suck at zippers.  Maybe if I buy the invisible zipper foot for my machine, I will be inspired to give zippers another whirl.  Not this week, though.  I’m kind of inspired after making these pillows. Don’t be surprised if you get one for Christmas– probably not the Charlie Brown variety, though.

Those are so cute! I love the quilted peanuts baseball fabric!

  2. I actually did a whole research paper on Charles Shculz and the Peanuts comic strip my sr year in college. And lucked out enough to run into CS daughter at OfficeMax of all places and found out she lived in my hometown. So I got to interview her in her house, which is a kind of shrine to her fathers work. Amazing amazing place! And, with all the money in the world she still took the time to cook and cleanup after and cheauffer her 9 children all day long. Amazing. So, I love the pillows 🙂
