Quilting Royalty

I had a brush with fame.  I called a quilt shop in search of some Neptune, a long shot I know.  Guess who answered the phone?  Tula Pink.  Yes, THE TULA PINK.

Turns out it was her mother’s shop.  Anyway, she couldn’t have been nicer.

I was so excited after my brush with fame that I called my husband.  Needless to say, he just didn’t get it.  No jumping up & down, no squeals of joy, no asking if they even had the fabric.

This kit was in a magazine from a year ago using Neptune, so I called the shop just to see if they had any left… thinking maybe one had been hiding in the back and they just discovered it or something.  Nope.  She told me that her mom buys 100 yards of each of her fabrics (or something like that).  Anyway, they made 300 kits of this particular quilt, anticipating it being in the magazine.  Would you believe they sold out in 6 days?

Of course, because her stuff is that awesome.

Have you seen Parisville, her line coming out this fall?  It’s gorgeous, but then again, we knew it would be.

Oh my god!!! you talked to Tula Pink?!?! You totally should have called me and not your husband! *I* would have jumped up and down and squealed with you! Totally!
And after we calmed down, we would have felt a little embarrassed, but that’s okay.
    YOU TALKED TO TULA PINK?!?!
Wow. I’m almost askin’ for your autograph.
    =-)

How awesome is that? I mean, seriously! If it were me, I’d call back every day, just to see if she answers the phone again.

Not sure which print you’re looking for, but when I can’t find something at the LQS, I like to try Quilt Shops.com. Just type in the name of the fabric you’re looking for and if anybody has it, it will come up on the screen as thumbnail prints of the fabrics.

Hope you find what you’re looking for.
