The dog actually. Not the guy. The dog with who was double-heartworm positive and had a mad case of kennel cough, but I fell in love with his stinky self anyway(as you can tell, it took my husband a little longer).
Don Corleone, who cleaned up quite nicely after we brought him home and had him groomed, was allowed to hang out in my sewing room where he instantly started lounging on fabric. So I knew he had found his forever home.
And when he moved on from fabric to actual quilts, we just became instant BFF’s.
Don has been with us one week shy of 6 months, and he clearly feels at home. To celebrate, Nacho Baby and I donated some animal beds to the shelter that we made with my sewing trash.
If you get a kick out of seeing pets on quilts, go check out the show. It’s for a good cause.

OMG, does he ever look like my dog! He’s just a smaller version! Love that cute little face!
Rescue dogs make the best pets!
Boy, he did clean up – a diamond in the rough!
what a lovely new home he has. He is one lucky boy!
Your baby doesn”t look the same after being groomed! Lucky to have found you!
I am amazed that it’s the same dog looking at the before and after photos. He is obviously very happy living with you and your quilts.

Are you sure that’s the same dog? What a beautiful baby. Good for you for giving him a chance.
Danielle, thanks for the info on the Pets on Quilts Show. I THINK I made some progress in entering the photo you suggested I put in the show. I agree with everyone…that Don Corleone is one lucky dog! And how nice of you and Ethan to donate the animal beds…wonderful life lesson for your little one.
Love the dog stuff as I love animals. Brian and I could help support this. Just let me know. Those who can’t have children will always love the animals:)
So glad you saved him. Looks like a sweet guy for sure. Esp. lounging on your quilts.
That’s the same dog? Before and after? I can hardly believe it. Thanks for the links. My kids are always after me to create soft sleeping things for our shelter.
What a transformation between the photos. he is one lucky dog and so are you for having found him. Very striking quilt, too.
Can’t believe he’s the same doggie! Amazing! He is so cute, especially on that beautiful quilt!

Oh my poor lil sweetie. I know he felt so much better after being groomed. He sure does look a beauty now!
Lucky for him and lucky for you that fate brought you all together. Thanks for giving back to the shelter with the beds from scraps in the previous post. You are a blessing!
What is Double heartworm? I cannot believe the dog in the first picture which looks brown, is the same grey dog in the next two pictures. What a difference a haircut made!
Love all of these great rescue stories!!!
Wow, I can’t believe how different Don Corleone looks. He was and is now so cute. I loved all his hair (1st pic), but he is so lovable without the hair.
Don Corleone cleaned up really well! Such a cutie.
Wow what a change. He has really thrived under your tender love and care.
What a change
You are both so lucky to have found each other
